Who is A to Z Building Reports?

A to Z Building Reports was established in 1994, by Marten and Anne Hilberts. It was their dream to provide a Building Consultancy service that catered for the ‘little person’ and for families, helping them with building industry information and understanding, and working to protect their interests when the building and real estate industries touch on their lives.

Marten is a qualified Building Foreman and Clerk of Works. He has over 35 years experience and on-going training in the building industry, gained in many roles - initially as an apprentice, then as a member in a building crew, then later as a construction supervisor. and finally a consultant.

This sort of knowledge - gained in the field - is invaluable to him in knowing the local area and in anticipting the variety of problems which properties here are likely to face, depending on their age and location.

Over the years of inspecting properties in Lake Macquarie, Newcaslte and their surrounds, he has seen clearly the need of people who are investing in a house to be sure of its condition and durability, for their own and their families’ security. His goal in establishing A to Z Building Reports was to meet this need, and provide a reliable service in which people could place their confidence.

Over 30 years, Marten has carried out many thousands of building inspections in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and beyond. Taking the time to pay attention to detail is his key, and Marten's client testimonials reflect his skills, dedication and determined approach to excellence.

When he’s not helping people with the building related issues in their lives, he can be found playing with his kids, exploring local National Parks, fishing, or renovating his own home.

Marten carries out every inspection himself, from subfloor to roof cavity and everything in between, and he will take the time to answer your building questions.
